The Story Behind Samajwadi Party Protests
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav was prevented from boarding a special flight from Lucknow. This led to the eruption of a series Samajwadi Party protests across the state of Uttar Pradesh impeding life and activity.

What the entire issue is
Akhilesh Yadav was supposed to take a special flight from Lucknow to Prayagraj. He was supposed to be present at a university for an event. However, at the airport at Lucknow, he was physically stopped the police from boarding the special flight. Samajwadi Party protests broke out throughout the state as soon as this news became public.
The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath in a statement said that the government took this action after receiving a request from the university. It has been said that the university in question was apprehensive about the law and order situation revolving around Akhilesh Yadav’s visit. As Samajwadi Party protests were fueled party workers, the leaders of the party called the grounding if their chief “an attempt to kill democracy”.

The protests as they happened on the ground
After the “airport incident” it was a matter of mere hours before the Samajwadi Party protests spread throughout the state like wildfire. The cities of Prayagraj, Jaunpur, Kannauj, Jhansi, Balrampur, Jalaun, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh and Lucknow experienced the most of the disturbances.
The Samajwadi Party protests soon turned violent as the protesters vandalised vehicles. They also clashed with the police forces trying to contain the protests. The party on its part claimed that parliamentarian Dharmendra Yadav was injured the lathi charge of police in Prayagraj.
The capital city of Lucknow saw the most trouble erupting due to the Samajwadi Party protests. Scores of protesters had gathered outside assembly complex and the Governor’s house. Tons of protesters also rushed towards the Lucknow airport which they claim to be the ground zero of the entire situation.
What did Akhilesh Yadav have to say on the entire issue
“I understand the need to ensure the safety of people and property and would never do something to endanger either knowingly. But, to be stopped from speaking, from asking questions that are on everyone’s lips – to be prevented from engaging with the youth is just another clear sign of how scared the government is,” a post Akhilesh Yadav read.
